The brief
Every joint left visible
A new build gives you the rare chance to decide what gets hidden. Here the owners chose almost nothing.
Timber connections, plaster edges, and the seams between materials are all left legible. The house is quieter for it — there is no trim doing the work of a good decision.

Materials and finish
Left visible on purpose
This was a new build, which meant every joint was a decision rather than an inheritance. We chose to show them. Terrazzo meets timber with a brass shadow gap instead of a scribed edge; the stair stringer is bolted, and the bolts are where you can see them.
That honesty sets the limit on the finishes. Nothing is painted to imitate something else, and there is no trim doing the work of a bad measurement. It made the build slower and the drawings longer, and it is the reason the house will still read as considered in fifteen years.
