The brief
One plane, two materials
A small apartment gains nothing from more features. It gains from fewer surfaces, treated well.
We stripped the interior back to a single continuous plane of lime plaster and let one timber volume carry the kitchen, storage, and desk. The floor runs unbroken from the door to the window.

Materials and finish
One material, held steady
The apartment is small enough that changing surface every few metres would have made it feel smaller still. So lime plaster runs from the entry through to the bedroom wall, wrapping the reveals, and the timber is a single species at a single tone. The eye has nowhere to trip.
Everything the room needs to function is folded into two joinery volumes — one holding the kitchen, one holding the wardrobe and the study. Closed, they read as plaster. Open, they hold a surprising amount. The floor area did not change; the number of things visible at any moment did.
